Why did the Son of God become man?
Most theologians both Christian and non-Christian, believe that Jesus really did walk the Earth. The unique and altogether singular event of the Incarnation of the Son of God does not mean that Jesus Christ is part God and part man, nor does it imply that he is the result of a clouded of the divine and the human. He became truly man while remaining truly God. Jesus Christ is true God and true man. The prayer explains it: For us men and for our salvation , the Son of God became incarnate of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. He did so to reconcile us sinners with God, to have us learn of God’s infinite love, to be our model of holiness and to make us ‘partakers of the divine nature’ (2 Peter 1:4). He lived on earth about 2,000 years ago, but has always been living as God the Son! His birth is the most important birth in all of history. He assumed a human body by means of which the invisible God became visible. This is the reason why Christ can be represented and venerated in sacred images. We need to acknowledge the fact that he walked the earth, he is not from out-with our kind. We can follow where he went today!
