Arrival from 11am Departure the next Day Circa 11am Schoenstatt Scotland Retreat Centre

This is a retreat for those who are interested in silence, and is an introduction, so help will be always at hand.

Envisage a period aimed just for you in absolute peace and serenity. In your own en-suite room on a seventeen-acre estate nestled in the Campsite Fells, less than an hour from Glasgow. Schoenstatt Scotland is indeed a spa for the soul. Just one residential day in silence can make all the difference in this wholly natural setting, with a river running alongside it with brown trout and ducks. Your retreat will offer you ultimate peace and freedom. You will have an opportunity to find yourself in a spiritual cocoon. To grow in faith and to, if you wish ask any questions that can grow these.

This is meant as an introduction to silence. And even in this brief period, away from the city, noise, stress, work and responsibility can make a sizeable difference and can win an individual over to silent retreats. Schoenstatt offers individual stillness and serenity. This one residential day in a substantial degree of silence (except for meal times) will allow you to feel more connected to yourself and your maker. It is an amazingly generous time for individuals who have lost themselves in caring for others, in the desperate pace of work, or even for self-healing. Individuals who fail to find ‘you’ time, can get more and more lost and eventually even become ill. Those who say that they could not endure solitude tend to be the very one’s who enjoy it most, for silence is the state of the soul. If anything, your enjoyment of nature is enhanced 100% in silence. You realise its efficacy and its beauty. Try sitting in the Shrine in the morning or early evening and listening to the birds. It is an amazing experience.

Silence gives you the opportunity for introspection (self-examination – self analysis – reflection – contemplation and meditation) to go beyond mere thought and distraction, and be in tune with your inner being. In the evening you can cozy up with a good book, write in your journal. Fill your lungs with fresh air by wandering around the estate over little bridges, or up to the cross on the hillside.

There is a new pamphlet from Schoenstatt Scotland Press, which deals with the Silent Retreat, and is part of an eight-part ‘Rereatants Treasury.’ It costs £1 and can be sent to you if you wish.
