Today there were individuals, and parish groups who attended our half day prayer retreat. Prayer packs were given out from the sanctuary of the Shrine. There was a sizeable group from St. Andrew’s Bearsden with their priest, Fr. Mackle. And there were some people also from Milngavie and further afield. Fr. Mackle heard confession in St. Joseph’s cabin for an hour. The day started with a talk and then the presentation of prayer packs. Retreatants could then go anywhere on the estate and spend time with their packs. The first document was ‘preceding prayer’ which assists the reader in preparing for prayer as opposed to just launching in. The second document was specifically prayer based. There was a pamphlet on St. John Vianney and prayer, A contemplation on Jesus and and a meditation. Afterwards, retreatants gathered in the courtyard for afternoon teas with scones clotted cream and strawberries, cake and sandwiches, tea and coffee. The day was beautifully sunny and guests lingered afterwards to chat and get to know each other.

Serenity personified. There is a beautiful sense of peace and order in this chosen place. I feel at home when I visit and Our Lady is truly present at the alter during Exposition of the Blesssed Sacrament.

Schauntatt has been for me the most beautiful and tranquil place. I love Catherine for all the beautiful presence I have accepted and the feelings of being so extraordinary and peacefully in the Shrine..Eli x
