50 years Schoenstatt in Scotland

22nd January 2012
I am sure that all of us and certainly every family has a special photograph in their family album or shoe box that is treasured. It might not be very well taken it could be blurred or over exposed but it remains special because of what it represents. A special event in the life of a family. The first picture of a new born child, the only image we might have a dear grandmother, a special celebration. I have here one such image that is part of our Scottish Schoenstatt family photograph album. ... [more]

O Come Let Us Adore Him!

17th December 2011
The Schoenstatt Retreat Centre held its Annual Christmas Celebration on Saturday 17th December. Over 100 people of all ages were welcomed by Sister Margareta at the start of the day. The children, dressed as angels and shepherds, settled down on the carpet in front of the stage to enjoy a story telling session led by Sister Mary-Elspeth and Nora Hartley. The story, Blue Kangaroo, encouraged the children to think about giving to others. Following the story time, the carol service and Nativity... [more]

Mothers Retreat November 2011

25th November 2011
For the Mothers' retreat we could report a full house. Starting on Friday 25th November the Mothers arrived in time for a fundraising auction in the front hall after which those who were staying overnight had time to find their rooms and settle down. On the Saturday a full programme of talks and was rolled out. The main points were about the up and coming centenary celebrations marking the founding of Schoenstatt in 2014. There was also time for prayer quiet time and an opportunity for con... [more]

October Conference and Crowning mass 2011

23rd October 2011
The crowning mass is always a special celebration on the Scottish Schoenstatt calendar. However with the dreadfully wet and grey autumnal weather the thought did occur to us that perhaps people might be put off travelling to the glen. As it turned out the crowds turned out in buses and cars and on foot from all parts of the west of Scotland and beyond. The big hall was filled to the brim and the partition to what is normally the dining room needed to be opened to accommodate the extra numbers... [more]

Schoenstatt Bikers at the Glen

18th October 2011
Fr Stefan Schaaf from Mannheim an old friend of Schoenstatt Scotland turned up at the shrine with a few friends on the 28 of June this year. They certainly turned a few heads as they roared up the front drive astride powerful motor bikes. Fr Stefan and the group are all members of Schoenstatt with a passion for the polished chrome and the deep throated roar of a Harley Davidson. They were doubly fortunate to have chosen what must have been the only sunny week of an otherwise damp and wet su... [more]

The New Evangelisation

1st October 2011
For members of Schoenstatt this was a welcome return to the old Schoenstatt home at Ardmory in Langside Glasgow. As we walked up the front path there was a sense of coming home. The afternoon conference brought together members from the Focolare, the community of the risen Christ and Schoenstatt. Mgr Paul Murray representing the Archdiocese of Glasgow held the keynote talk on the new Evangelisation. In it he highlighted how the process of evangelisation was started before we came along ... Farewell to Ronny

15th September 2011
My name is Ronny Vedrilla and I stayed at the Schoenstatt Centre in Campsie Glen for one month. After finishing my studies in Cologne I wanted to spend some time in an English speaking country. As I started to inform myself about where I could stay, I also talked to a good friend of my mother, who is a member of the Schoenstatt movement. She finally told me about this place. So I wrote an E- Mail to Sister Margareta and offered her my help in updating the Schoenstatt website. I arrived in Scotla... [more]

Family Pilgrimage

12th September 2011
25th-30th July 2011 In July 2011, 5 Scottish families and 1 Spanish family congregated in Schoenstatt, Germany for a pilgrimage led by Fr. Bryan Cunningham and Sr. Margareta. For some, this was their first experience of Germany and they were surprised at how they felt at home in the Original Shrine. The group was extremely privileged to be present when one of the couples, Mahesh and Rosanne Perera, took this opportunity to make their Covenant of Love. Some of the highlights included a trip to... Burundi Celebration in Schoenstatt

21st July 2011
On the 21st July this year there was a wonderful celebration at the Schoenstatt priests' house on Berg Moriah. Five priests from Burundi in Africa made their final contract with the priests' community. If you follow the video link you can see how they brought a little bit of African joy and sunshine to an otherwise chilly and wet northern European summer [Show Article]

With You United in Love

24th May 2010
With You United in Love - 3rd European Family Congress One would be forgiven for thinking that the Holy Spirit had descended in Germany with foreign tongues ablaze when the 3rd European Family Congress of Schoenstatt took place from 20-24 May 2010. The Congress, which takes place every 6 years, was the largest Congress to date with delegates from 18 European countries. Scotland was represented with a delegation of 12 whose aim was to learn and share experiences with European partners that woul... [more]
