Visitor Impression: My time in Scotland

Ballencleroch Schoenstatt centre 1st March 2006
I think I can say my stay in Scotland was one of my best experiences in my whole life. I wanted to learn something about social working and improve my English but it was so much more for me. I've met so much interesting and friendly people. I was able to see some of the nicest landscapes I've ever seen and in my work with the boys I learned also a lot for my studies and about myself.. I can't thank you enough for all those things and the support you've given to me. I hope we'll meet us again one... [more]

Visitor Impression: My Schoenstatt Stay

Glaziert Burn by Campsie 2nd March 2006
I came for three months to Campsie Glen to spend time in another country between my 13 years of school and my university studies. From the beginning, I was enthusiastic about this place: the wonderful park around the shrine, the big ancient trees, the silence and quiet - only birds and rabbits. Really, Our Lady looks for and finds only the most wonderful places to be. In my daily life, I lived in St. Joseph's house (upstairs of course) and every day I went to the Centre to help there. I have t... [more]

The passover lamb 15th April 2006
As has become traditional at the glen there was the annual stations of the cross with members of the movement illustrating the different stages of Christ's passion in the grounds around the shrine in a live tableau. During the height of holy week there was also the annual passover meal to mark the beginning of the Easter Triduum Of special significance to the Scottish Movement was the reception of Rab Fyvie into the Church. Rab and Mary have been involved with the Movement for many years now s... [more]

Creating the Holy Spirit

Plastercine models to work out the shape 10th May 2006
The Holy Spirit Symbol for the Scottish Shrine During the October day of last year Fr Michael who had been asked to design the symbol for the Scottish Schoenstatt shrine confessed that the project scared him. For Fr Kentenich the Holy Spirit was the dynamic force that kept Schoenstatt together alive and active as the work of Mary at the service of the Church. If the Spirit was not present in the movement, he would prefer that it folded rather than be kept limping along as a structure held only ... [more]

Where is Luigi Crosio?

Turin where Luigi married and made his living as an artist 24th June 2006
Last year while visiting Turin I attempted to try and find out a little more about Luigi Crosio. He is the man who painted the ‘Mother Thrice Admirable’ picture, previously known as ‘Refugium peccatorum’. Within Schoenstatt Luigi is the most famous non member. Despite his close ties through the painting he neither knew of Schoenstatt, nor lived long enough to become aware of how important his creation had become within the movement’s history. My personal interest lies in simple curiosity, plus a... [more]

Nan King RIP

Nan and Duncan King 29th July 2006
Nan King (25 July, 1921 – 29 July, 2006) died after a long illness on Saturday 29th July 2006, the feast of St Martha. Over the past 25 years, Nan had become a very dear and close friend, as well as being an important part of our Schoenstatt family life and that of many others . There were three great loves in Nan’s life Duncan (her husband), her family and the Church. It is impossible to place Nan in any particular niche – her life touched and influenced so many with whom she came in contact. ... [more]

October day and Crowning

October day and Crowning 22nd October 2006
It was four seasons in one day with mists, rain and bursts of brilliant autumnal sunshine. Members of the movement gathered on Sat 21st October for our own little October day. The talks and the presentations recalled the impressions and memories of the pilgrimage to Milwaukee in May. Although only 12 representatives could make the trip, in spirit many more people accompanied us in prayer and also by following the daily reports on the Scottish website. Our October day was a chance to reflect more... [more]
