2005 has been high lighted as the year of the Eucharist through out the whole Church. From the end of the April to the end of May the Schoenstatt centre in conjunction with the Glasgow Diocesan Religious education Dept and the local catholic primary schools are planning another Children's project similar to the homeshrine and Rosary year projects. Over the month 41 schools with 3300 children will take part in the project to meet Jesus in the Eucharist and in the Word. Each day 200 pupils will come to the centre to take part in workshops and visit the shrine where the blessed sacrament will be exposed for adoration.
The “breaking of bread”—as the Eucharist was called in earliest times—has always been at the centre of the Church's life. Through it Christ makes present within time the mystery of his death and resurrection. In it he is received in person as the “living bread come down from heaven” (MANE NOBISCUM DOMINE OF Pope John Paul II) Through, music, art games and time to play in the grounds the workshops will help to explain to the children Christ's presence in Word and Sacrament and how we are all the body of Christ in the world.
