Return to Rome
15th January 2005Last September 2004 the Scots joined the thousands of other Schoenstatt pilgrims in making their way to Rome the eternal city to celebrate the opening of the International Schoenstatt shrine and centre. As other articles in this magazine have shown it was a memorable event for all those who attended. However as can often happen once the banners and marquees have been packed away and the chairs stacked it can all fade to a distant memory. In reality the real work of building up the new centre now... [more]
Welcome to Sr Anne Marie
1st March 2005(Sister Anne Marie originally hails from Wexford in Ireland and has spent the last few years until her arrival in Scotland working with the sisters in South Africa) I have been asked to give my first impressions of Schoenstatt in Scotland and what came into my head were the words: "Nothing without you - Nothing without us" When one goes somewhere new, it's nice to find out a little about the history, and I am totally amazed at how Our lady has worked here at Campsie. Just one example Sr Margar... [more]
Farewell to Marco
2nd March 2005My name is Marco Metting from Germany and I stayed at the Schoenstatt Centre at Campsie Glen for 2 Months. It was one of the best times in my life. I must admit that I did my social service at the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary in Vallendar after the German equivalent to the A-Levels in the UK. Therefore, I knew what the sisters are like. A lovely group of people who are locked deep inside my heart, but the sisters in Scotland have a certain British humour you only can find at the Schoenstatt Cen... [more]
Lenten Stations of the Cross
19th March 2005Our annual stations of the cross were held on the 19th March. We were blessed with a beautiful day, so we were able to hold them outdoors. The key format differed somewhat from previous years as key figures in the Passion were played by members of the Movement. A sizeable crowd were present, some for the first time. The walk began outside the shrine with the first station and continued along the pathway behind the shrine as in previous years. There were some emotionally charge moments as the sto... [more]
Year of the Eucharist School Project
26th April 2005The theme chosen was recognising Jesus in the Eucharist. The story of the disciples meeting Jesus on the road to Emmaus provided the back bone of the day’s workshops and presentations. On the 26th of April the school project for the year of the Eucharist got underway. The staff and helpers at Campsie glen welcomed the first group of school children from St Machan’s and St Jude’s. Over the month 41 schools with 3300 children will take part in the project to meet Jesus in the Eucharist and in ... [more]
Luigi Crosio - The man who painted the MTA
24th June 2005Luigi Crosio 1835 - 1916 Crosio often appears a little like a mirage, always slightly beyond the horizon, always just out of reach. That said my curiosity was still there, is there a story to be discovered and told? The article is attached in a PDF file. [Show Article]
Pilgrimage to Schoenstatt

This year our Pilgrimage began very early on the morning of the 28th of June at Campsie Glen from where we took a coach ride to Edinburgh airport for our flight to Cologne. We arrived at Schoenstatt mid afternoon to glorious sunshine. After a very welcome cup of tea and a wash and brush up, we had our first Holy Mass in the haus chapel at Sonnenou, where we will spend the next week We had the vigil mass for the feast of St Peter and St Paul. World Youth Day 2005
7th August 2005On the 7th August, Sr Ann-Marie led myself, Erin, Michelle and Gillian, on the first leg of our WYD adventure. Our destination, Schoenstatt, for the week long festival of 3000 Schoenstatt Youth from around the world. The weather sadly was not ideal. It did rain a fair amount and was quite cold sometimes. The optimistic Scots had not prepared for this and spent many a day hitching rides up the mountain in the rain. We were staying in Marienland, which, for those of you who haven’t been to Schoen... Crowning mass
22nd October 2005Within Schoenstatt the month of October has always a special significance being the annual memorial of the movements foundation in October 1914. While the October week lasts a full week in Schoenstatt Germany, Schoenstatt Scotland has a single day conference where the delegates come and present their reports from the past year. Of special significance were the girls who made the journey to Schoenstatt for the World Youth day in Cologne during August 2005 and the associated celebrations in Schoen... [more]

November Family Weekend at Campsie Glen
6th November 2005There are so many couples wanting to come to the Family weekend retreat – we had to have two this year. The ‘older’ couples had their weekend in September and now in November it was the turn of the ‘younger’ couples. This is a sort of artificial division as in Schoenstatt we are all young – at least young at heart. Seven couples and thirteen children spent the weekend together from 4th – 6th November. Fr. Brian Cunningham of the Schoenstatt Fathers directed and guided the adults through worksho... [more]
