Lent at Campsie Glen
21st March 2004During Lent two annual activities took place at the centre. Usually there is a dramatized stations of the cross that is enacted outside around the grounds near the shrine. The weather made that impossible this year so we gathered in the hall. Each station was a reflection from one of the characters involved with Christ's passion. Inverness Retreat
1st May 2004The Annual Retreat for the Inverness group nearly didn't happen this year. Sr Margareta was preparing everything and then had to call off. Frantic phone calls ensued and Fr Michael took up the baton. We met down in the halls of St Mary's Church in Inverness with people from all round the district. Congress on Marriage the family
3rd May 2004From the 27th of April to May 3rd 2004 representatives of the Scottish & English Schoenstatt families attended a European conference on the marriage and the family on Berg Schoenstatt along with 400 other delegates from all over Europe. As well as participating in the talks and workshops the Scottish families also made a presentation on the work of the Scottish family movement in the highly successful home shrine and Rosary projects at Campsie Glen. Blessing of the Rome Shrine
9th September 2004The building of the Shrine and centre in Rome has been one of the most long awaited projects in Schoenstatt's history. Fr Kentenich blessed the site at Belmonte on the 8th of Dec 1965. It took almost 4 decades of painstaking work and preparation before permission was finally given to go ahead with this new project. October Crowning
1st October 2004During October we welcomed Cardinal Keith Patrick O Brien back to Campsie for the annual Crowning mass. This year there was a special Eucharistic accent. The Holy Father had announced earlier in the year that 2005 will be a special Eucharistic year starting this October. At the end of mass the Cardinal led the procession with the blessed sacrament out to the shrine where the MTA picture was crowned followed by adoration and benediction. [Show Article]
Hello and Goodbye!
29th December 2004During the last months of 2004 we heard that there was to be changes of staff at Campsie Glen. Sr Mary Elsbeth was asked to go to work in South Africa while we welcomed Sr Claire for the first time to the Centre. Sr Mary Elsbeth comes from Glasgow and both she and her family were deeply involved in the development of the new Shrine and centre. Her mother frequently helps out in the kitchen. She will be greatly missed but promises to make a return visit at the end of March to help out with the pl... [more]
